Hey, my name is koko!

To give you a brief introduction to myself. I currently live in Shanghai and I have worked as a designer for over 8 years. I graduated from Southeast University with a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design in 2012 and a Master's Degree in Art Design in 2015.

At that time, like most designers, I was not getting properly trained at school of becoming an experience designer or product designer. Most of my experience comes from my industry practice during my career.

So after graduation, I started off my career as a visual designer with Tencent Technology, I was in that position for four years and was promoted to the senior visual designer. Then I am looking for a  role that is both strategic and hands-on in terms of design. Luckily I had the opportunity to join Frog. Working at a consultancy my role is extremely versatile. Although my role is senior visual designer, my actual role is kind of an experience designer. During my career at Frog, I have been working in a variety of industries, and digital transformation projects.

Last year I left Frog and joined a tech startup called Zilliz. I am the design lead and leading a team of 2 Product Designers and 1 Brand Designer. I am the person in charge of all creative & digital design works for Zilliz’s brand image and digital products. I am currently a team manager and project manager, but also a hands-on design leader.

WHAT CAN I SAY MORE?

Designing for products means making decisions from industry and contextual perspective. We're not talking about beauty, we're talking about whether it works, whether it's really needed by people and whether it can help companies survive or grow as well. I think it is very challenging to answer these questions.

I've done a lot of live projects, so I'm very familiar with iterative design, design sprints, and collaborating with engineers. For complex products, I tend to build the design system and set principles from the beginning.

I am passionate about helping companies to achieve their goals via human-centered design. And I believe that design thinking and behavior science could go together and should go together.

Personally, I’m a self-driven designer and always willing to go above and beyond in my role to deliver excellent results. I always get excited when starting a new project because I know I have the opportunity to get out of my comfort zone and expand my skill sets.

As a designer and creative, I enjoy constantly deepening my knowledge of the world and humanity through design. I‘m a forever learner and will constantly be trying to cultivate my design strategy and design craft.

WHEN WORK IS A PLEASURE, LIFE IS A JOY!

In my free time, I enjoy the fun and energy that life brings to us. I love pop songs, especially the old ones, and I have a collection of Beatles, Heavy Metal and Chinese Rock on vinyl. I have two very long-haired cats🐱. I like to hang out with my friends at park🌳 and cafes☕️.Here are some pictures of me taken by my friends❤️ and myself☺️.
